Has a employer asked to verify education?
I have already been hired, but was asked to verify my education ASAP. I have received my GED, but with 11 yrs since that passed, I don't know where my original certificate is. I have to order it and was told it will take weeks for the copy. Doesn't the employer check this themselves? Ive worked for two major banks and the state of ga and they always did this themselves. Why do I have to be pressured and come out of pocket, isn't it there responsibility?

No its not their responsibility. Usually they do check, but they may be cutting corners and expect you to have the documentation.

Sorry, no it is your responisiblity, and most people would just have copies of this, guess what most people after 20 years or 30 years or 40 years still have copies of their high school papers.

To answer Chuck, no not everyone would have this, and its ignorant to say so, especially if you don't know the persons background, and Im sure those people after 20 30 40 years have had to submit for copies also!!

I was an HR director for years in a school district. Every teacher had to pay to provide copies of their degrees and transcipts.
