    Inter religion marriage
    Hi

I am a Hindu guy and she is a Christian girl. We both wants to get married and trying to convince our parents for a long time. After a long struggle my parents are OK with the marriage with few terms. We need to get married in Hindu style. But her father was against this as she is Christian who took baptism and says she shouldn't go for marriage in hindu style. More over my father is against because according to astrology we are not supposed to get married it seems. Our signs doesn't match. I am totally miserable. He say's we can't live happily if we go against astrology.
Can anyone tell me is this really true. Can't a Christian girl who took baptism shouldn't marry a Hindu guy in Hindu marriage style. And also if signs doesn't match do we run into troubles after marriage.
Thanks in advance. Please share/suggest a solution for this.

I have some dear friends who are Hindu, so I understand about their need to consult astrologers before committing to a major effort such as buying a house or marriage. Christians, on the other hand, don't do that and consider astrology a fun pastime, if that.

If a Christian wants to marry someone from another religion, he/she should really meet with a counselor and the future partner to make sure married life will go well and if it doesn't, what to do then. You two already have some major roadblocks in your way.

I'm a Christian and think marriage between a Christian and Hindu could work, but many, many problems could surface, especially once the couple has children.

You mentioned that YOUR parents would be okay with the marriage, but with reservations. What are your girlfriend's parents saying?

Thanks for your response. We have our plans after marriage which we think we can manage. But the major road block is the marriage. Her parents are strictly against this as they say she is Christian who took baptism and says she shouldn't go for marriage in hindu style. They say this will dump us into indefinite worries and we shall suffer a lot if we go formarriage in Hindu style.

Would you and your parents agree to a Christian wedding ceremony too? Would that make her parents happy?

I'm a Christian minister's daughter and can't understand why her being baptized a Christian would make a problem for a Hindu wedding. Hindu weddings are huge, joyful occasions with lots of samosas!

So get married in a Christian service, I can understand the issue, depending on their level of faith, reading the stars to determine marriage is against their very teachings, and a service of a non Christian faith is wrong.

I foresee a lot more serious issues, what about kids, will they be baptised ?
