93 toyota 4x4 22re engine. Blew head gasket about a year ago had entire top end redone. Installed new thermostat with top end rebuild. Just changed radiator and fan clutch four days ago. Now radiator fills up overflow reservoir until it is literally overflowing. Due to the lose of fluid the truck then over heats. I have to then stop and put more fluid in. I've been told that maybe head is bad or bad machine job but not losing or burning any oil, no water in oil, or any other indications that the head is bad. Why do I keep overflowing the reservoir and losing all my fluid??

Thoughts:

. Ensure all air is properly purged from the cooling system.

. Remove the thermostat and see if it stops overheating--the thermostat may be bad. If it still overheats, there's likely a top end problem.

. Consider replacing the radiator cap (OEM only). Many caps have two valves inside them. One for coolant to flow into the reservoir, the other for coolant to be drawn back into the radiator. The valves fail, over time.

Check and see if your engine has a bleeder bolt--some do, some don't. Otherwise, remove the radiator cap, start the engine, and squeeze the top radiator hose. Do this until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.

I have a 93 toyota 4x4 with 22re 2.4 liter 4 cylinder truck. I blew the head gasket a little over a year ago. Had entire top end redone. Besides having to add coolant every three or four days due to a bad raiator it ran like a top. Just a week ago I decided to finally put a new radiator in it. I also found my waterpump was bad, so replaced that too. While I was at it I replaced the fan clutch, thermostat and even two of the idler pullies that were worn. From a reconmendation of a friend I even replaced the cheap radiator cap that came with the radiator with a falesafe type. Now I am having overheating problems. The truck runs fine for anywere from an hour or more before beginning to overheat. The water in the radiator fills the overflow resivoir and then litteraly overflows and runs out on the ground. Due to the loss of coolant I end up overheating. I am going to pressure test the system next to see if I have any leaks. Several people have said bad head gasket. I am not getting any idications (minus overheating) that would indicate a blown headgasket.. no water in oil, no oil in coolant, no visible leaks, not losing or burning any oil, not smoking at all, no loss of power. So,I guess my question is WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY TRUCK!!

Have you made sure there is no air in the cooling system? If you have an air pocket it will do the same thing as you describe.
