I am a diabetic, I mention that as I know some eye problems happen to people with diabetes. I also wear glasses that have progressive bi focals,

For the past two days I have noticed that I am bumping into walls and doorways. It is like I think I can fit through but I am misjudging where I am at. I am not distracted when this is happening.

I am also having issues at work judging how high I have to lift the cup from the pop machine so I don't hit the lip. I work at McDonalds.

Any suggestions or insight? I am hoping that I will be able to get in to see the doctor this week, but am unsure depends on how booked up he is. If I can't get in this week should I just go to a clinic or does it sound like something that can wait?

Get someone to drive you to one... don't try it yourself.

Personally tell your doctors office these symptoms... if they can't get you in ASAP, consider going to a clinic. While I am not a doctor, symptoms such as these to me raise the prospect something that really needs taking care of ASAP might be amiss. Besides... better safe than sorry. Let a doctor tell you if its nothing to worry about rather than assume.

I went to a clinic today and was sent to Emergency from there. The doctor told me that there is something going on with peripheral vision. II have an appointment for tomorrow at 8am. Thank you for your help smoothy.

You mentioned that you wear progressive lenses. This also sounds like a product of the lenses being dispositioned. Are you frames crooked? If you tip your head down or up a tad does this all change? Or if you lower one side of the frame? You could simply be viewing life from the bifocal instead of the intermediate/distance portion of the lens. You do need to visit a doctor to decide exactly what is going on.

I went to the eye clinic and they said their "first exams" showed nothing wrong. I do have an appointment for June 7 for "vision mapping". They just want to be sure there is nothing going on. If nothing shows up they said it could just be me not paying as close attention as I think I am. I do tend to get distracted so that could be right.

Best to let them tell you its nothing... something like a drop blood sugar will make you light headed... so can an inner ear infection, etc... And could prove dangerous. Like I said... better safe than sorry.

Did you have them check your glasses? Was this only one occurrence?

This has been going on for a few days. I know notice I am using my hands when walking past objects as a guide.
I did not get my glasses looked at. My appointment with the clinic had all ready happened when I read your post. I will keep that in mind for my follow up appointment and vision mapping when I see them on June 7. Thank you

Susan, I've been thinking about you so much! Do you have balance problems or ever feel dizzy?

People have called me dizzy :P But in all seriousness... I occasionally stumble or lose my balance. I am unsure if it is related or just me not paying attention or being under the weather. I am cautious when going down stairs etc.

One thing I should mention is if it is dark out I can not see at all. It is like I am blind and I have to have someone help me along. I have mentioned it to other eye doctors but none have seemed to be concerned about it. I did forget to mention it to the eye clinic.. grrrr silly me.

My eyes also did take over 24 hours to "un dilate" after they put the drops in my eyes. I will be mentioning that to them as well. I am hoping it just means that they gave me a bit too much of the drops but would rather be sure.

Thank you for your concern Wondergirl and I will have an update on Mr Owen late tomorrow afternoon. His appointment is at 420 tomorrow.
