    What will happen?
About two years ago my roommate asked me to drop him off at community service so I agreed his girlfriend was also in the car. So we drop him off and his girlfriend then asks me if I wouldn't mind taking her to the mall to return a sweater I said sure. We get to the mall and walk around before we head to Macy's where she said she bought the sweater from. She's looking for clothes to try on and I'm asking a clerk if they sell maternity pants because at the time I was 6 and a half months pregnant and my pants were starting to get uncomfortable she said no so I go sit outside the fitting room and wait for her to try on clothes in the mean time I had went and got food and came back she was still trying on clothes. My roommate started calling and asking why she wasn't answering her phone and I told him she was trying on clothes he told me he was ready to be picked up so I went and told her and she said give me a few more minutes. She finally comes out and says I still have to return this sweater so I tell her OK I'm going to the car because my back had started hurting and by the time Ireached the car she would be ready then she says well since you're going to the car can you take my purse with you I take the purse but then when I get outside I'm stopped by this guy that says he need my bag so I tell him its not mine but I gave it to him he then tells me to follow him in which I did and that's when they pull all these clothes out the bag which I didn't know about now I'm being indicted on felony charges anyone have any idea on what I should do?

Among other things... the very first you should do is find and hire a lawyer. The best you can afford. And remember the other person probably "threw you under the bus" so to speak. You owe her NOTHING... you owe your roommate NOTHING. Do exactly what your lawyer tells you to do.

I have read your story several times, but you failed to say that she asked you to carry the bag, as well as her purse.

If I were you attorney I would ask you more about that. Specifically, if you had any clue that the contents of the bag weren't paid for.

In answer to your question, if you don't yet have an attorney, get one immediately, before you do anything else.

Felony shoplifting? Where? I find it difficult that a person returning an item would approach the return desk with no purse, no means of ID (which in my area is requested under any circumstance) after handing her purse to her friend to take "outside."

    Doesn't make sense.
