I'm serious... you looked better. Even if I didn't know you here... having seen both... YOU looked better.
You're making my head swell. Good thing I don't have to wear one of those hats, it wouldn't fit after all the praise. :)

Thanks Smoothy. You just gave me a major ego boost. I don't know if I agree that I looked better, but I was younger then Kate. :)

Makes me think of a "Fancy Hat club" where women vie to have the most outrageous hats. And we had many runners up at that event.

I just don't get the hat thing. I understand that the Queen likes hat, but to me hats are just an excuse not to brush your hair. ;)

Rod has always loved hats. Not the ones at this wedding, but a nice simple hat on a woman, he loves it. Every once in a while I'll try on hats, and he always begs me to buy one.

Thing is, where would I wear it? I doubt dollarama will allow me to wear one. Driving the kids to school really doesn't require a fancy hat. The only time I could see a hat being useful is while doing gardening, and then it would be a different kind of hat.

Also, I have a fat head. I can't find hats that fit. Okay, to be fair, it's not my head, but my thick hair, but still, they don't fit.

I'll stick to a ponytail. That's about as fancy as this girl gets. :)

Crap. I just re-read it. I see it now. :o

    Than, not then. Bad Alty.

Seriously WG, it's a lost cause. You'll have to love me the way I am, faults and all. :)

I was so trying to be so subtle. I should give up and just love you as you are. (You have warts? Other faults? Plural?)

Ah oh... the grammar cops are on the prowl. :D

Took me a bit to figure out what that meant. Didn't see it the first three or four times.

Where did the hat-wearing idea come from? It's a sign of humility? For decoration?

Humiliation if you heard my wife's comments about those hats. No humility there... It took a set of brass balls the size of bowling balls to wear some of those in public.

I mean historically. (I agree about the bowling balls.)

Well I googled and googled and googled, and all I could find about hats is that they're worn because that's the style for the social elite in England. Apparently an outfit just isn't complete without a hat.

    Whodda thunk?

Personally, I think an outfit isn't complete without underwear, but I'm a bit nutty. ;)

    There's this --

    Head Covering Through the Centuries

    And this --

    But nothing about underwear.

They are worn to distract from the ugliness of the face.

LMAO! Considering some of the people that attended, that sounds like the most logical explanation. :p

They're not hats, they're "fascinators". Think whimsey.

Geez, if even I could figure this out - a deeply challenged hats-that-females-wear person, why couldn't the rest of you?

Well athos how brilliant you are, but we mere males are not expected to understand what females are doing, either on their head or on any other part of their body. viva la difference

The right panties and bra can make or break the outfit... but heck... I'm a guy and have a thing for nice lingerie on women.
