    More toilet flapper help needed.
    I am visiting my mother and am trying to fix her toilet. The flapper will not stay up and so you have to hold the handle to let it flush. Now I read this thread and was interested in speedball1's answer. The problem is where speedball said, "Leaving the ring on will interfere with the flush."

    These two pictures are her flapper set-up:

    And

    So my question is, should I cut that ring off? Could that be my problem. There are hooks on the side and I have adjusted the chain link-by-link and the chain and flush lever rod are not the problem, apparently.

    Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Not sure why my pictures didn't work. I used their tag button at the top.

    Here are the links instead;

    Cut off the ring and just use the hooks, right now both are trying to do the one job of pivoting the flapper, over kill.
