Is it wrong for a senior girl to ask a freshman to prom? I have been asked, but..
None of the guys who have asked me to prom are guys I feel comfortable with. This guy, the freshman, has quickly become one of my best friends. He is very, very, very intelligent and I am in the IB program and we have some classes together. He is popular with a lot of people that are not freshman too. We're great friends, and I know he likes me, however I am aware of the age diff. so I want to keep it friendly, but I know that prom is going with another senior or junior, but it's also about going with the person who is special to you, even as a friend, right? With him, I'm myself, and I know I would not feel awkward.

So what the problem! Lol ask him to go... who cares about age, you said it yourself you'd be happier going with him. Its your prom and you can take who you like.

I'm a junior going to prom this year an taking a freshman, I'd take the same person in your situation too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this as long as you are BOTH clear on what your expectations are and that you are just going as friends.

You're both in high school - I think it's fine. I went to prom with a senior when I was a freshman in high school, and came back home to go with a friend who was a high school senior when I was a freshman in college. We had a great time and nobody had a problem with it either time.

Of course it's okay! Prom is all about fun anyway so of ourse you should go with who makes you happiest. Ask the freshman, you won't regret it! Good luck :)
