I filed 1040A but I am a non resident alien. Also, I had to file both CA and NY state
    Hello,

I am a non resident alien currently on F1 status. I was a student from NY for 2010. I had some income from my internship from CA. I used turbotax to file my taxes and got my refund too. When I checked it, it has filed 1040A form and state tax for CA. I think I had to fill 1040NR form and both CA and NY tax(had some job in NY). Now how do I go about amending this return. Can somebody help.

The state tax returns are probably okay, though I would have to review them to be sure.

The federal return must be amended by preparing Form 1040X and attaching a properly-prepared Form 1040NR-EZ and Form 8843 to the Form 1040X. Expect to write a check with the amendment, because you probably got credits to which you are NOT entitled.

If you need professional help filing your amendment, email me at [email protected] or [email protected].
