    Expenses away from home
I work as a contract designer in a city that is 175 miles from my house. I live in a hotel during the week and go home on the weekends. I do not receive per diem. Can I deduct my lodging and meals from my taxes and what form would I include this on when I am fillig out my taxes? Thank you.

Unless the contract under which you work is a temporary assignment (less than a year), you cannot deduct those living expenses on your tax return.

The choice to work under an extended contract in a different location than your home is one of personal choice. The IRS will not sanction claiming such expenses if the situation past one year.
