97 Honda CRV Main Relay Assembly clicking - car won't start
    Hi,

I have a 1997 Honda CRV and it has been periodically not starting. I've noticed that when it does not start there is a brief click after I try turning it over. This click does not occur when it does turn over. I have golphered the clicking sound to be coming from the Relay Assembly - Main, part R2 0132, located under the glove box, above the computer.

My thought is to simply replece the part, but I'm not sure if the click is simply the result of another electrical part not operating as it should.

This problem first began when I noticed water seeping in through the bottom of the windshield. I'm not positive if that is related or not.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

The ECM may be failing. Water is the nemesis of ECMs and could have caused the problem. Perform the K-Test on your ECM:

The K-Test: Remove the MAP Sensor connector and turn the ignition switch to ON (Position II). Using a multimeter, check for 5 volts going between the MAP Sensor connector's reference wire (+) and ground. As you look at the connector, this is the socket on the right. Really press the black test lead into a cleaned main ECM ground on the thermostat housing. If the voltage is low, it's probably indicating ECM failure. Most failed ECMs will record a fraction of a volt. To me, the K-Test is simple, elegant, and accurate. Many Hondas parked for several years are now back on the road. "The K-Test creates massive value, by providing a low cost solution where one did not previously exist."--TxGM

The failing ECM is likely the cause and the relay clicking is the effect.

Can you tell me where I should be looking to locate the ECM?

I should have also noted that the muffler recently disconnected from the exhaust piping. I reconnected it, but really just cobbed it together.

    I really appreciate your guidance!

Before trying to locate the ECM, perform the K-Test.
