    Puppy screaming?
I have a question for all of you; my wife and I were given a pup at 7 weeks he is now 4 months he's half shi-tzu and half chiuaha (spelling) he's a great pup house broke at three months fetch at the same and we say bed time and he gets up off the couch and goes to his little house all on his own great pup right? Than why does he scream, ear piercing screams only when we raise our voices at him or pick him up when he's in trouble Im told its fear but how do we let him know he has no reason to fear anything and how do we stop him because I've told my wife if I can't train him to stop within 30 days I'd give him away I have 24 days left and I'd actually like to keep him he's very smart and as a full time student at this time we really can't afford dog obedience school.

Do you only pick him up when he is in trouble? Do you only raise your voices when he is in trouble?

Your raised voices scare him, he is frightened. He needs to trust you and respect your as his alpha. If you can't spend money on training get some dog training books from the library. He also needs exercise so walk him at least once a day for 45 minutes, require him to stay at your side and not way out in front. When you walk through a doorway or up stairs require him to be behind you

Your pup is still a baby... he still has his baby teeth! You probably don't know what sort of life he had before you got him... he may have been been, well, you can't tell. Right now, he is really frightened when he screams.

If he is house broken, what sort of trouble could he be in at 4 months old. Oh, probably chewing on something, or everything? That is a phase almost all pups go through... he is teething. You may be doing what he remembers at his first home, only it got worse there and he remembers. Consider how much larger you are than he is.

He is just learning whether you mean to hurt him, or not... and he will be the judge of whether you do or don't. 4 months old is too young to expect him to learn what means 'trouble'. If you frighten him, he learns that, but not why you do it. Be more patient, and less abrupt with him. Pick him up to pet and praise him. Let him learn to enjoy your touch, not fear it.

Puppies are sometimes, well, often a nuisance to raise, but only if you go through the hard times with them do they really become part of the family. You can do a lot in three weeks, but save the obedience training till he gets a couple months older. Good Luck.
