    I just don't know what to do anymore...
    I'm a freshman in a small high school, my grades are good, I have lots of friends, and a wonderful family... but I just feel like I'm missing something. I feel empty inside, even though I try so hard to do the things I love, I can never fully enjoy them. I feel depressed for no reason; it's to the point where I can hardly get out of bed in the morning. Is something wrong with me..

    This could be something physical or emotional. I think you should talk to your parents (especially because you have a wonderful family!) and tell them how you have been feeling. Suggest that you think you should have a complete physical just to rule out a medical issue. If it turns out that there is nothing medical and your family can't think of anything else that might be causing this feeling then you and the Dr. can discuss where to go next.

    Just one other thought comes to me... how involved are you in charitable work? If you aren't, it is possible that doing something like that might help.. but ONLY if you aren't overwhelmed with other stuff.

    You are at a point in your life where you are probably questioning so many things - education, love, self, future, beliefs, etc. Add that to your physical stage in life and it's easy to see why it's common for people in your general age group to go through similar things. It doesn't mean something is 'wrong' with you. Communicate your needs and feelings honestly and things should improve pretty quickly.

    It can be normal to go through ups and downs with your mood, but if you feel it has started to effect your day to day life, and has been ongoing for awhile, it would be wise to see about having a check-up from your doctor.

    A few things you might try:

    *be sure you are eating well, make some changes if need be
    *get some sort of daily exercise, dance, walk, bike ride, take up a sport, etc.
    *check the amount and kind of sleep you are getting... you may need more or more quality sleep than you are getting
    *try some relaxation or meditation on a regular basis
    *make some short term goals, something to plan for and look forward to
    *if you take any medications, see if they could be effecting your mood... a change may be in order
    *see if you can find ways to volunteer for others in your community... at a local church, retirement home, animal shelter, etc... giving to others can often help give you a sense of purpose... it feels good too!

    There is nothing wrong with you. You need to let God into your heart. Find a church. If you don't feel comfortable doing that you can personally pray to God. He loves you. If you want to give me your email I can tell you more about God and everything he has done for us.
