Filing an extension for tax return - no resident alien
Hi, I'm a non resident alien and started my job in US on 1 August 2010. Since I don't complete the SPT I need to file an extension as per my accountant. Can you help me in finding out what documents that I need to sign and what should I put as text in those document. My accountant told me that I will have to sign one doucment and my wife (who arrived with me) will have to sign another document for First year election IRC 7701(b)(4) and IRC Section 6013(g). Can some one please help me with the contents of these documents and confirm that these are the only two elections that I need to make.
    Thanks in advance

If you are getting this advice from your accountant, why is he NOT providing you with the contents of the statements required.

You can find out what the statements require by downloading IRS Pub 519 for 2010 at www.irs.gov.
