Yes but you will most likely need to use an "S" trap and that may not be permitted by your local code. If this is an old house you may grandfather in.

    Hi Tuscan...

You can, but, most likely, it won't be exactly what you want... ;)

Here, you could install an STRAP that goes into the floor, but this trap is illegal (although still sold), is unvented, and can siphon off and allow sewer gasses into your home, so not really recommended, OK?

You could also try to install a PTRAP (legal) with an AAV (illegal mechanical vent), and this setup works pretty good as the ptrap won't siphon, but you will see the ptrap and mechanical vent from the side of the pedestal sink.

Best solution, of course, is to open the wall and repipe new plumbing to include a new drain and vent, but that doesn't sound like an option you want to explore.

Post back with your thoughts... see what we can think of.

Plumbing for under the sink [ 2 Answers ]

My renter apparently tried to fix the sink but only made it worse (and then he left in the middle of the night). Anyway, the center tube is running from the faucet to the spray nozzle and it keeps leaking. It has a washer and plumbing tape and is screwed in tightly. It's leaking at the top where...

Pedastal sink drain question [ 16 Answers ]

The existing basement roughins for the toilet and sink were made VERY close together. From what I have seen in the rest of my home and other homes the drain pipe for the sink usually goes into the wall after the P trap off the sink drain. In order to maintain enogh space between the toilet and...

Plumbing - 1st floor sink backs up in sink below [ 3 Answers ]

I have a 1st floor kitchen sink directly above a basement sink. When the 1st floor sink is full, it drains quickly and backs up in the sink below - which then drains relatively quickly. No other problems here - the dishwasher drains fine, general use is fine - it's only when there's a full sink of...
