My girlfriend has been enraged with me for 2 years over playful joke!
I had been dating my girlfriend for around 6 months. We were both at her place... both in great spirits... laughing and talking. She decided to take a shower... she keeps the door open. Feeling mischievous... I tiptoed in and slipped my camera phone around the curtain and snapped a picture. As the flash went off she yelled, HEY! You better delete that! I could tell from her tone that she did not like what I did. She stuck her head out and I immediately showed her that it only got her leg and she watched as I immediately deleted it. Still, she was furious. I tried to explain that I was just fooling around, and certainly wasn't wasn't going to do anything with the photo... I really didn't aim the camera... I just wanted her to see the flash and make her squeal. I've done this before, it's been done to me... and when it's with a trusting partner, it's never been a big deal... ever. For two years she has periodically tried to convince me that what I did was horrible... sick... twisted... vulgar... and even made her feel molested. I refuse to believe that this is a normal response, or that I'm some sort of twisted freak for having playful fun with my girlfriend. Am I missing something here?

Now I'm mad at you too. Yes, that was a horrible, sick, twisted, vulgar, shameful "joke". You're lucky she speaks to you.
Perhaps it is time you admit that, ask for her forgiveneess, and find out how to make amends.

I have to agree with your girlfriend and Wondergirl. You violated her privacy.
Yeah, your missing something... You violated her. Maybe this was something you and your male buddies did to each other, but you NEVER do something like this to a woman. Had you done it to me, I would have gotten out of the shower and showed you the door.
Carp like this just pi$$es me off!
How old are you anyway? 12?

Wow... COMPLETELY not the responses I expected. We are in our late 30's... and she is beautiful. There is TRUST & RESPECT between us... she KNEW without a shadow of a doubt that I wasn't running off to send that to all my friends & family. She KNEW it would be deleted within seconds. It's was a playful goofy prank! Like throwing a cup of cold water over the top of the curtain... flushing the toilet... taking her towel... ect. Do I do this type of thing all the time? RARELY. A sense of humor is one of the top things that women look for in men. Maybe it's a gender thing... because if she did it to me, I would have laughed and probably yelled something like, "Be sure I get 50% of the money you make off of that!" But thank you for your responses, I appreciate your opinions.

It doesn't matter, that was her private time and HER body.

Not that kind of sense of humor. That's locker room humor. You do that with your guy friends in the locker room after a football game.
I don't think you actually understand women. Yeah, we like a sense of humor, but not humor that humiliates us or demeans us. She's not your buddy, she's your girlfriend. Respect her, don't embarrass her.

Ok, OK... now when you say "humiliate" and "demean" I can begin to understand this. She IS real big on always looking nice for me, and doesn't like me to see her "unpretty." Under that thinking I can see how a nude snap photo taken when she wasn't ready or expecting it might make her mad. Hmmm... maybe there is hope for me yet.

Kind of. It's one of the things that always surfaces during an argument... when she inevitably brings up older arguments. I'm dealing with a very angry woman here.

So there are MORE issues in your relationship? Why is she so angry? More insight to her personality and background might help.

KnightCruizer - you really don't know how to show respect to a woman and you really don't get that you don't. Your examples are not funny at all. You are putting her in a bad position, you are making her pay the price for your fun and I would have HUGE trust issues with you. Trust and respect are very important for women.
I think perhaps you have some issues with respecting women that need to be resolved and then you'll be more able to understand and improve your behavior. Right now you just want to justify it and blame her for it. She should move on because you are not making progress.

I don't know what is normal and what is not.
Would I be happy if someone took photos of me in the shower without asking? No.
Would I still be in the relationship? No.
Why is she? I don't know.

Those would be total deal breakers. My husband would be looking at divorce papers.
Like someone said, those are kid male jock locker room pranks, not something you do to a female, especially a girlfriend.
