What is the noise come from my chimney breast?
Hi I hope some one can help me. I have a chimey breast upstairs and there is loud noisese coming from it. Banging, scraping its not there all the time every now and again but regular. I can remember having it last year but I am sure it wasn't at loud. I can here it when I am down stairs and it makes me jump when I am in my room I driving me mad. Can anyone advise me on what to do or on what it could be please? Thank you michelle

What's a Chimney breast? Never heard that term before in the USA. You may be from a different country. You may have something that's taken up nesting in the Chimney, like Squirels, Raccons or opposums. You can call an animal control expert that can get them out and place a metal vent cap to prevent them from returning. |

I don't think its an animal because last year it happened for weekes and if an animal was stuck it would die after a few days. It dose sound more like a human stuck down there scratching & banging but it isn't one of them either! Lol thank you though for your answer

Some animals might get in and not be able to get out. But many are able to climb in and out at will. What you can be sure of its not a human stuck in there. THey are far worse climbers than most animals are besides being too big to fit. I assume you don't have a tree limb that might be rubbing against the Chimney in the wind... do you? Or a loose piece of flashing the wind might be blowing on the roof that might make that sound? |
