    Sales Deed Lost
    I have lost my original sale deed papers of my house in the local post, I don't have a duplicate copy also, what is the process to apply for a duplicate copy, how and where? HOW CAN I GET SECURED TO AVOIDE ANY MISUSE?

    There's not really reason to worry about misuse.

    If you have a mortgage on it, the mortgage company can get you a copy. If you own it free and clear, then you can get a copy from the County Tax Assessor (if you're in the US).

    If you are in the US then, as RickJ said, no need to worry. Once the deed is recorded it doesn't even matter if you don't have the original anymore.

    If you want to get a copy you can go to the county courthouse or county clerk's office where documents are recorded. You can get a copy there for a nominal sum.
