Here's my question. I have two wall switches and two sets of wires coming into the ceiling box, each one with a black, white, red and ground set of wires. My goal is to use both switches to simply turn the power on and off the same way they worked with the old fan/light that were on pull chains....

Hampton bay fan has white/black wires and green ground. Electrical box has white/black/and red and copper ground. What do I do with the red wire? Even though switch is turned off at wall, when I connected black to black the fan comes on and stays on! It does come with a remote.
