Best location for a sump pump
Where is the best location for a sump pump install, can I use a corner of the basement and go deeper with the hole if it is not necessarily the lowest point of the floor?

You definitely need to find the lowest point in your basement. Usually, when a concrete is poured, contractors will create a very slight slope to allow any water to accumulate to... most of the time it's in a corner. Good luck
