The music is a thing of a hobby and passion.and music can influence the mood of a person. Music can really affect a person's behavior and mood.

You're thinking along the lines of cognition.

Even simple timings of instruments can alter the mood of the listener. Gamelan has quite a powerful effect there - which most people these days will have no interest in... but it's a good place to start on the moods.

There are a number of books I could recommend for you... but this one I read was complicated, yet brilliant in every way. "Music Cognition by Dowling, W. Jay."

Music is a language that still hasn't been fully understood - there is always something to learn. So really, there isn't much time for self satisfaction when successfully achieving something; you should pat yourself on the back and move on to the next thing.

Anyway... just in case you don't know much about music I will say this; every song has a set "key" and a category for it's particular effect, these categories are known as "scales"... "The Major Scale" is often happy songs whilst "The Minor Scale" can be an effective sad song. These scales have a certain set of notes in them to give it that feel... Also depending on what key the song is in; sharps and flats could have an incredibly strong effect on one's mood.

Furthermore; you can dive into these scales, and instead of starting on the first note... say... if you were to start the set on the second note - that too would change the effect of the song; therefore giving a different mood.

To make sense of this I will explain it like this:

C Major has no sharps or flats, also containing 7 notes (the 8th being C either higher or lower) so it's like this...

C, D, E, F, G, A, B

So... if we were to start on D, the second note, then this would alter the feel of the song. To make further sense of this; musicians have titled this as deeper categories known as "modes".

Each position has a different title.

However - this is going off subject a little bit...

Each of these modes, scales and keys all can effect one's mood. Timing can also effect one's mood if it is not a typical rhythm, it can sometimes leave people feeling off balanced or unsettled.

A very complicated and fascinating study.
