Cat is ill, can't figure out what it is?
My family and I have an older cat, she is about 13 years old. The first couple days of her illness, she would sleep the entire time, would not get up of her sleeping pillow, would not eat dry food, would eat maybe a quarter to half a packet of cat food a day, excreting small amounts once a day, not defecating. When I took her to the vet the vet was unable to yield much information except that she had a fever. The last couple of days she has been waling on her own a bit, but she is slow and lethargic and unsteady on her legs. She also will not eat any food and hardly drinks. She has lost a lot of weight so we started force feeding her liquids with an eye dropper. Her pupils are mostly dilated, although not all the time, and she seems to be breathing slightly heavy, although it is not too bad. She also constantly finds a place in the sun to sit, although I am not sure if this is because she is cold or normal behavior. What could it be? I find it confusing that she would go from not moving to moving around a bit but not eating. Please, any help would be appreciated. WIll try also to get her an MRI, etc, but can't until Monday or Tuesday.

Did the vet do a blood test?

(Our old cat loves the pet warming pad we bought.)

She may have had a stroke, or a series of little ones. Does she hang her head over her water dish but doesn't drink? That could be a sign of diabetes or hypothyroidism, but other symptoms (ever, unsteadiness) don't go well with either of those.

Write down all her symptoms, so when you're at the vet's, you can give him the list. I hope the blood test reveals all, so you can begin treatment of some kind.
