    What happens if the roots of a tooth break off in the gum
    Had a tooth come out and the roots broke of in gum--will it be allright or eventually cause pain and problems

    Yes, it will have to be removed.

    Definitely the root pieces should be removed as soon as possible. It's easier on you and less costly if you have it addressed before it causes problems.
