    In what country?. because you say you aren't in the USA in your other thread.

    In the US, if a child is your dependent and lives with you (other than away at school), you claim one exemption.
    'How much you get' depends on all your financial information.

    Hi tahnks for the info but my son lives with me and my sisiters ex and his brother has been doing it for the past four years and yes he had told me that he was going to and that he would send me some money that only happened once but recently I got word through another one of his family that his brother has done it last year and this year I asked them to stop and they said for me to call the IRS.They take the money anyhow so should I really stop them seeing that I caannot file or is it a must that he must be filed for...
