    Low hcg levels no period?
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me...
I got a positive result on a urine test 2 weeks ago (just after my period was due). When I had a blood test 3 days later the result was negative. The doctor said that the low hcg levels were probably because I would have a miscarriage, when I did the urine tests the levels would have been getting lower, but still come up as positive.
That is all fine, but it has been another 8 days since this blood test and I still have not had any bleeding. Now I'm not sure what to expect? If the pregnancy hasn't 'stuck' how long should it take to have a period? Is it possible the blood test was wrong?
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

The blood test likely was correct, but there is a wide range of what is normal in the early weeks of pregnancy and it just may not have picked it up at that time. A one time reading does not give you adequate information as to how successful a pregnancy might be.

Since you are still getting a positive result, I would give your doctor a call and ask about having a repeat blood test done to see what may or may not have changed.

If there has been a loss, your body may just absorb the pregnancy and you may not have the usual bleeding of a miscarriage... or it may just be taking some time until you do notice the loss. Ask about having a quantitative test done to get an actual number reading and not just positive or negative.

Hi - I am experiencing something similar. I had a miscarriage in December via D&C at 8 weeks pregnant. My period was due on 5th May 2013. I took a home pregnancy test on the morning of the 5th May and read positive. On the 6th May I went for a blood test and the Hcg read 8.8. I then went for another blood test on the 9th May and the Hcg read 2.1. I still don't have a period. What could this mean?
