My ex has had sole custody for 12 years now and I want joint custody.
He has had him for twelve years now and it has worked till now. I want him for the whole summer and he won't allow it when he has him the whole school year and some of the summer. I live 2 hours away and go out to see him once a month for two days. I think its fair if I get him the whole summer I just don't know how to go about it and how much it will cost.

Is your current visitation ordered by the court? Either way you need to go back to court to petition for a change in visitation. It is hard to tell without knowing more about this situation what your chances are of getting the change.
