    Selling My House
I sold my house and the Real Estate Agent forwarded a copy of the Agreement of Purchase to my Lawyer. I received a letter from my Lawyer advising that in order for him to proceed with the transaction on my behalf, he requires :
    1. A duplicate Registered copy of my Transfer/Deed he wants $850 to for a straight forward transaction which includes the payout of one mortgage. He also included in the letter that his Law Clerk will be working on my file under his supervision. My question is, if the Lawyer has been given the mortgage/credit line information , with the Loan/Credit Line provider is the Lawyer asking me for this paperwork. I it not part of the reason I would be paying $850 .

Depending on where you are $850 sounds a reasonable price for handling a home sale.

No, But that doesn't mean I don't know what a reasonable fee is.

He handles the transfer of money, he will write up the new deed ( depends on what type) He can of course have someone travel to the court house to get copies of paper work for about 100 dollars a hour plus travel.

He may also arrange your title insurance ( if you are buying it to protect yourself as the seller)

But yes, I wish I could get my attorneys to do a house closing for 850 dollars, Is this a very inexpensive house ?

I have not paid under 1000 dollars in years for a house closing.

You can ask for specifics about what he will be doing, but there are several things that need to be done when processing a sale of real estate.
