Its installed exactly the same as regular sheetrock. The only difference is the Greenboard is more humidity and mildew resistant than regular Gypsumboard.. and used where there is more water or humidity, like bathrooms as just one example.

Key words being water RESISTANT... not waterproof.

Roger That. I was just wondering if the green side faces out? My application is in an upstairs hallway, and with the chances for high humidity and mildew get pretty high in the hot summer months. Also, with the windoe open a lot, many times rain blows in. I just thought it would be better than normal drywall.

Green side faces the living space.

But if you look at the board edges, the tapers, and the paper seams on the back will make that obvious. These are usually bundled in pairs with the good side in the middle to protect it in handling.

    Check your local building code.

"Green" or "MR" (Moisture Resistant) sheetrock requires more fasteners than standard drywall when installed on a ceiling.

Regular drywall only requires fasteners every 16" on center for ceilings when adhesive is applied but needs fasteners at 12" on center for MR type drywall on ceilings even when adhesive is used.
