    Stopped taking my birth control
I stopped taking my birth control (after ten years on it) in January and just to see how my body was functioning I have been taking OTC ovulation tests. My period has been like clockwork every 30 days, but I have never had a positive result on my ovulation test. My husband and I are Trying to conceive should I be worried?

Well, how long ago was it that you stopped taking birth control and how long have you been trying to conceive?

Its only been about 3 months since your stopped taking birth control. So your body is probably still readjusting and it may be a cycle until your cycle really is back on track on it's own.

Have you talked to your talked about conceiving?

I would say it's too early for you to start worrying. Conceiving doesn't always happen immediately.

bsummer00, I would like to inform you that there are no OB/GYNs that are members of this site. So any answers you get are purely from experience, aside from myself and one other member who are employed in the area of women's health.

I have to agree with justcurious55 in that it has only been a few months since you stopped taking your birth control. It can take as few as 2 months, or as many as 18 months for your body to recognize the loss of synthetic hormones (birth control pills) to begin to increase your own natural hormones.

Conception, even in the most healthy woman who has never taken hormonal birth control can take as long as a year before falling pregnant.

It's all about timing. We women have a window of about 24-36 hours for conception to occur when we ovulate. It's really a wonder so many women actually get pregnant.

Right now, don't stress. Let nature take it's course. Enjoy the "ride" now, so to speak. It's just going to take time.
