My water has been fine for a yr now out of no where I have no hot water pressure at any faucets or shower heads what can I do to fix

Do you have a well or city water?

City Water house is about 18 years old and hot water heater was replaced about 3 years ago

Any chance do you have a whole house filter that became clogged? Or a water shutoff valve some idiot kids in the neighborhood turned off outside? THere is usually one at the street and another where it enters the house inside.

Kids like turning knobs if you had any around.

Hi antsdroid...

First thing I would do is connect a hose to the drain at the bottom of the water heater and then I would turn it on and see what the pressure looks like. Let the water run for a couple minutes and observe volume and pressure.

If you have the same poor pressure/volume that you observe at the faucets then you will want to check the cold water shutoff and the nipple on the cold water inlet to the heater... may be clogged.

If you find that you have excellent pressure/volume coming out of the drain then you may need to check the hot water outlet nipple.

I don't think the whole house filter or main shutoffs are the issue as suggested above (sorry Smoothy) as that would usually cause a drop in both hot and cold water volume/pressure... unless you have issue with the cold, too, of course... ;)

Try the drain at the water heater and let us know what you find, OK?

No problem... I missed the word "HOT" in the original post somehow. And that does change a lot assuming both aren't affected.

But looking back... there was no "HOT" mentioned in the thread I responded to.

Based on the previous email notice on this thread the title was either changed or it was merged with another thread. Because the title on both email notifications are different but both I haven't deleted link this thread.

When I try the water hoe should I have the hot water heater off at the electrical box? And the cold water is working fine

Also on the cold water valve it is one like on your water hose but when I turn it left or right it seems to have no affect maybe this could be the problem also?

That depends on where it is exactly... the main inside gate valve will be like that. IT would effect both hot and cold water. There will be other shutoff valves in the house some will be on the hot lines... others will be on the cold lines.

Are BOTH the hot and cold affected or only the hot. It matters a great deal which is true. As I understand the cold water is not effected.
