Since the homework instruction says put it in the student's own words, why are we to do the homework?

I asked for help with QUESTION ONE only... Our semester started a few weeks ago, (I am in South Africa) and I am doing this course privately from HOME, so there are no CLASSES to ATTEND! We are expected to get the answers on our own, and I was struggling.
I have now completed the assignment on my own, as it is due in a few hours from now.
