This is a movie I saw when I was nine or younger (currently sixteen now) and was a kids movie with only talking animals. It starts with a cat family consisting of a mother and son. The father is dead or dies so the mother marries this cat that is obviously going to be the villain. When the mother gets sick, the stepfather won't let her see a doctor and she tragically dies. The part I remember most when the son is being restrained and taken away is him screaming "You killed my mother!" and the stepfather saying she was sick, she died on her own or something. The evil stepfather makes the boy work in a depressing factory, has his fancy clothes taken away while they sing a song, and wakes up the next morning, meets a guy fox he becomes friends with, and puts on a shirt to go to work. That's basically all I can remember except that the friends try to escape through the sewers where some of the unfortunate factory workers live that got sprayed by this melted stuff in a boiler oven thing and look like slime monsters. This most likely came out before dvds.
