    House generator
If you live in a location without any power supply, as we do in Fiji, lots of folks simoply wire up the house, then plug straight into a petrol generator. Is that safe? No fuse boxes or anything. I want to provide the place with power from the generator, but do so safely, can you advise please?

Have the power feed from the generator feed a panelboard containing circuit breakers that protect the various branch circuits in the home.

Same as if it was powered by normal power from a utility.

Two recent extended power outages reminded me I still don't have a connection for my generator. Yeah, I managed the fridge, freezer, coffee maker, etc on some extension cords, but the pump would be nice too, and maybe next time the furnace too. So I got a 6250 watt generator for $371. I would...
