I have a line problem with tree roots. I need to use cooper sulfate for treatment, but in getting the roots out now to increase the flow, is there anything else other than mechanical? Will lye treatments work, or is this a bad thing?

Hi Lawrence...

In my opinion, you should NOT be using a copper suplphate treatment as it is poured down the drain in its liquid state and only runs along the bottom of the drain pipe.

Here, you would be better to try a FOAMING ROOT TREATMENT that traets the lower and the UPPER drain pipe such as ROOTX. Check them out @

These guys suggest that you can simply use their product to eliminate the roots over time, but as an experienced plumber I would recommend snaking the drain with a root cutter head first and then treating the drain line twice a year with the foaming root treatment. Be sure to use the correct amount of foaming "crystals" for the length and size of your drain pipe for best result!

Thanks. That's alone the line I was thinking too. I know its roots as went to HQ and got a snake, but it had a kink so only go so far. Planning on getting another one and using the cutter. Thanks.
