Islamic calligraphy, colloquially known as Arabic calligraphy, is the artistic practice of handwriting, or calligraphy, and by extension, of bookmaking,[1] in the lands sharing a common Islamic cultural heritage. 1) Calligraphy was and still is used to Preserve the Quranic Verses.
2) If a person looks at the calligraphic picture of an Ayat from the Quran he/she is reminded of their purpose in the world and it replenishes their Faith,
3) Calligraphy adds to the beauty of a house as paintings are against the islamic Shariah hence calligraphy enhances the beauty of your house too,
4) Those who do Calligraphy are surely committed to their work and it represents their love and devotion to their religion.

That's what I think are some of the important features of Islamic Calligraphy
