Smell like something is died is coming from the kitchen and bathroom when dishwasher or laundry is used. Plumber put drain cleaner down and it still smells. It'snot ananimals it has had time enough to decay and go away What can we do?

Do you have a septic tank ? I have a reason for asking because it seems to me that people with septic tanks don't give them the proper care, therefore the smell factor inside the house. It isn't like having city sewers, septic tanks need care otherwise...

Pour 1 gallon of boiling water slowly down the drain. This will flush the drain and loosen any growth or bacterial that may be causing the smell.

Sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda into the drain and allow it to sit for 30 minutes. Baking soda absorbs odors.

Add 3 cups of white vinegar slowly down the drain. You will hear the fizzing as it interacts with the baking soda. This process will kill bacteria and germs in the drain as well as cleaning sludge from the inside of the drain pipe.

Leave the vinegar and baking soda in the drain until you take a shower again. The longer it has to work in the drain area of the shower, the better it will take care of the smell. It will also help clear away the stuff that can cause future odors.

Hi guys...

Advice above is just fine EXCEPT that you are never supposed to pour boiling water into a plumbing system. Depending on the pipes/seals, etc. the boiling water can melt parts/seals and can damage the system.

Use very hot water... about 150 to 160F is a maximum by all plumbing codes that I know of, OK?

You go Mass, boiling water is hard on various components. Very hot tap water should emulsify the clog
