    Statute of Limitations for JUDGMENTS in ontario
    A collection agency called me today saying I owed a credit card dept dating back to 1999 and that they or the crditcard people got a judgement to collect this dept on May 2000. Having said that, there is nothing on my credit report, no letters, no contact whatso ever till today. Now I knoe the statute is 6 yrs prior to Jan 2004 and 2 yrs after 2004 for collection a debt, but ehat about this court judgement they say they have? What's the time frame for this? I have no clue, nor do I aknowlege such dept because it mays start the cock over again.. please advise. Thank you.

    They can get a judgement extended before the clock runs out... and you may not be aware that they do. But you can let them take you to court and prove they have crossed all the T's and dotted all the "i's". Or prove to the court and win a garnishment judgement. But they are going to have to do it in a certain timeline.

    Let anything go through a court at this point.

    Collections companies say a lot of things, mostly untrue and missleading.

    Get them to PROVE that this judgement actually exists and go from there.
