    Paternity testing
Can an alleged father have an adult child (24) legally tested for parentage in Tennessee, or is there a statue of limitations? The mother is now suing for back child support but the courts never established paternity and the adult child is now 24 years of age! What if anything can be done to establish paternity in This situation that will hold up in a court of law... in Tennessee?

When you say back child support do you mean support that was ordered and not paid? OR are you saying the mother is just now suing for support and the "child" is 24?

If there is an Order in place a paternity test will not matter - at least in NY. If it's ordered the time to demand DNA has passed.

The deal is, there was on order set back in 1998. The alleged father petitioned the courts for a paternity test. He was denied. So he paid support until 2003, When the mother and her attny sent adoption papers that had been supposedly filed in a Tennessee court. He contacted the attny and he sent him papers to sign so he did, had them signed by a notary republic and sent back to her attny. He was contacted by the attny told to stop support pymts so he did. Now, yesterday he was sent a subpoena to go to court over arrears. So we contacted her previous attny( that sent the adoption papers to begin with) and was told by the receptionist, who wasn't supposed to tell him this, but the adoption papers were never filed! And over the years he has had question about the child's paternity but could never get anything done through the courts and because he was under the impression that she had been adopted. Now what to do?
