I apologize but I do not understand what you're trying to ask here? What do you mean refresh your system?

I am assuming that you mean restart when you say refresh. When is your system slow? On start-up, loading your profile, general slowness, internet, etc..

WHat kind of things do you have set to start on startup? The more things you have scheduled to start on startup the slower the system will run once it is turned on... take a look (don't disable) and take a screenshot.

START > RUN > msconfig > scroll to the startup tab.

THis will list everything scheduled to start once the system starts. If you have unnecessary things in here (ie: ITunes, Skype, chat programs, etc... ) it will cause the system to slow.

Does this happen when you try to run programs as well? If so, take a look at your virtual memory:

"Any programs currently running on your computer must reside in memory. These programs include Windows itself and any programs that you have started; they may be running in the foreground where you interact with them, or in the background where they act on their own or await your interaction.

The main memory in your computer is the physical memory, or RAM (random access memory). This physical memory generally is not large enough to hold all of the running programs, so Windows sets up some additional virtual memory as a file on the hard drive. It then swaps portions of the programs between the physical and virtual memories, always having the currently active portion of a program in the physical memory."

Also, what programs do you have running? SOme slow down system performance more than others...

    Also try the following:
    1) Check disk for errors
    2) Defrag
