Typically, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) runs various tests whenever the key is cycled to the ON position.
That testing can run as often as every 500 milli seconds. If a fault is detected, a diagnostic trouble code will set. If it is a Type A fault, the light will come on as soon as the fault is detected. Type B can require two trips with the same failure.
The test for your vehicle: Key on or engine running, then the PCM detected an open or short circuit condition in the TCC solenoid or its circuit.
If you've cleared it and it comes right back, that system needs fault traced using strategy based diagnostics and a high impedance multi-meter and possibly a suitable diagnostic scan tool to monitor vehicle operating parameters.

Can you verify continuity and/or not shorted on the TCC circuits?
It shares Gnd with several other circuits on the BK/LB wire (PCM C1 Pin 4)? And the TCC Control is on the OR/BK wire (PCM C2 Pin 11)?

1999 dodge 1500 can the problem with po743 be in the pcm itself??
Soleniods elect inside trans ohm out OK,I removed valve body and checked all valves except for the balls.reinstalled prob still there.scanner can enable tcc but will not stay on kicks off by itself and can't get a graf of the working on and off in gear... eddie

It's not likely the problem is with the PCM.

That indicates there is a problem with the transmission. ATX problems are usually related to poor maintenance; i.e. not dropping and cleaning the pan, changing the filter, and refilling with the proper fluid (ATF+4) at the recommended drain interval.
A common reason for this code involves the seal on the input shaft of the ATX. The seal gets damaged when the torque converter is installed or is accidentally left out during rebuild.

I don't know how to do it.
With the light on, he'll be suspicious of all work performed. Did you change the fluid and filter for him? Was the TC input shaft seal damaged?

I'm very pro.at what I do,I changed fluid, filter, cleaned all valves in valve body, adjusted, bands, reg pressure,I performed that part 1st class.the trans shop that rebuilt this tran is not impressing me at all.if I knew what the signal wire is that turns chk engine from the pcm,I would just use ecm only... eddie

I checked the 2 tcc wires you mentioned not shorted and not a grd when key is on.I turned tcc on with scanner and it turns itself back off .the pcm code only comes up when engine is running not with key on... eddie

My last resort will be to take check light out,it will then give him a prob with inspect.and force the inspect. To connect the scanner for codes
