    Configuration
I am having a problem with my aunts computer. OK, when I turn it on it just pops to the screen "windows detected registry configuration choose command prompt scan reg". I don't know how to scanreg, its weird. Can you please tell me how to scanreg. The starting up screen or anything doesn't come on.

What version of windows you have?

I must look in papers... if windows have problem with registry it is not reason to stop starting, it only don't start some services, but whole system? Or they are totally damaged? Hm.
Without any speculations, If you don't worry about your programs (not data), you can repair windows from instalation CD. I have good experience with this, when it is start up problem, e.g. any driver is damaged. Few weeks ago one PC crash at start up (after loading vga driver it falls). It was PC with two disk raids and very important data, so I was afraid, if windows repair will correctly load raid drivers. And he was succesfull.

If the registry are damaged (but Im not sure) you can lost your instaled software.

But, at first, reply, whitch type of windows you have and I try to find, what does "scan reg" means.

Turn on your PC while holding down F8 don't let up until it opens the back door you can then open in safe mode or xp has last known best configuration if this don't work you need to reboot
