    Concerning Menstral Cycle
Hi. I have a concerning and embarrassing situation on my hands. First of all, I am a 27 year old female whom has never been to a gynocologist before. I know I deserve a lecture just for that fact right there. But I've never really experienced anything abnormal or worrysome until now; except that my mentral cycles vary from month to month but nothing that really concerns me. My cycles are usually somewhere in the 30's (30 days apart, 35 days apart, 39 days apart, etc... ). Anyway, my last period came on January 4th and lasted a week - consistent with my normal menstrations. I have been working out (nothing strenuous; moderate exercise for 20 minutes every morning) and eating better (again, no durastic changes; eating more fruit and veggies and drinking more water) since January 1st. You know... new year's resolution to get healthier. I was a little dissapointed that I hadn't dropped any of the weight I put on over the holidays after a month of that and my husband jokingly said, "maybe you're pregnant." Oh, haha... very funny. Except I started to think, maybe I am. We did have unprotected sex a couple of times (Jan. 15th and again a few days later). We were not actively trying to conceive, but more so had the mentality that if we do, we do. Because we definitely want children sometime in the near future. Anyway... we were sort of curious about the whole pregnancy thing so we bought some tests just to see - I guess you could say we were both kind of excited about it! I got a negative results on Feb. 6th, 9th and 12th. Then I started to feel some mild symptoms. My breasts were a little sore, I was feeling bloated and I'd feel tiny waves of nausea (but never actually vomited; it wasn't very severe). I also had a little back pain - it felt a bit achy. And I'd get really full, really fast and I'd stay that way for quite a while. Oh, and I had a sensitive scense of smell. Not to mention I kept getting the burps and for a couple days in the morning, I had really, really terrible gas pain. On the 14 and in the morning of the 15th, I felt mild cramps in my abdomen and for the next couple of days it was a little tender to the touch (like if I pushed on it a little). I was ssooo sure that I'd get a positive pregnancy test. But again and again, I keep getting negative results. I've become obsessed with testing my urine! I did on the 15th, the 18th, the 19th, twice yesterday and again this morning. The most concerning part about my story began yesterday morning. Oh god... this is humiliating and I hate to gross you out here... but I got what I considered to be my period. I noticed that it was lighter than normal. Both in color and texture (almost like diluted blood). I put a tampon in and changed it 4 hours later. When I changed it I noticed a foul odor. It did not smell like fish and it did not smell like blood. It smells like... I don't know... a dead animal. That's an awful and discusting way to describe it but that's the closest I can come in terms of accuracy. (One time I found a dead snake in the drain pipe of the sink and it smelled the SAME way.) That is horrifying to me! And the bleeding has continued into today and is going on as we speak. It seems to be more of a mucus that's tinted red now. It's kind of like slimey (picture the stuff that slugs leave behind when they're moving around). My back (right around the middle; not really lower or upper) is feeling very tense today as well. And every now and then I still feel spasms in my body. Not sharp stabbing and it's not painful. It really does feel like a short, light spasm of some sort. It's higher than the abdomen/pelvic area. Probably midway between my breasts and belly button. What could be going on here? I know I should go see an OBGYN and I plan to. But I'm mortified; both because I've never been in to one before (I'm EXTREMELY nervous when it comes to doctors - especially ones that will be examining my lady parts) and because of the offensive smell and abnormal mucussy stuff that I'm secreting right now. I was hoping that I could get some idea of what this may be. Is this some sort of non-pregnancy or sex related problem? Was I pregnant and maybe I miscarried? Could I still be pregnant? If so, is this normal for some people during the 1st trimester? If it's the latter, why hasn't my HCG risen enough to be detected by a urine test yet? I know you're not here examining me but if you could give me some educated opinions based on the information I provided I would be FOREVER grateful. Thank you!

It would be both dangerous and inappropriate to offer medical advice (or even an opinion) on the Internet. You need to see a gyno - seriously.

Believe me, Doctors have seen it all.

This could be just about anything but I do know you need to be checked soon.

Please - don't delay. Make the appointment, explain you've never been examined before, see what the Doctor has to say.

These appointments sound a LOT worse than they are.
