What's the name of this movie?
Believe it was made-for-tv on the USA network, but can't be sure exactly.
Anyway, the basic synopsis goes like this: There's a talented, but financially struggling mechanic. He has a daughter and a wife/fiance. One day he crosses paths with a rich car enthusiast who befriends him. The mechanic works on some of the man's rare and extremely valuable cars. Eventually, we learn that the rich guy came from poverty himself and has traveled extensively. As a result of the latter, he has an assortment of different artifacts from everywhere he's been. We learn that his most prized artifact is basically a babyish type of thing in a cage that he has brought from somewhere in Asia region. NOTE: the title of the move is also the term used to describe the caged baby. It turns out that the caged baby has the power to give its caretaker everything they wish. But the baby has become bored with the rich guy and has an interest in the mechanic. The baby forces the rich guy to commit suicide with a sword/dagger. The mechanic's wife dies (she's seen hanging) in a car accident which results from an argument she has with the mechanic (her husband) basically about the fact that he's spending too much time working for the rich guy. The car the mechanic crashes is a very expensive car gifted to him by the rich guy. The movie essentially ends with the mechanic battling the caged-baby because the caged-baby wants him to kill his daughter. Major point here: the caged baby is apparently is very jealous. "It" gives its caretakers their wildest dreams but it also demands that "it" be the only living thing in their lives. So its caretakers cannot have spouses, children, friends, etc. The ending scene is the daughter pushing the mechanic's wheelchair (he's blind and paralyzed due to his battle with the creature) along a very path on the side of a lake/river. And she also starts singing a lullaby that the caged-baby liked. The lyrics are also a recurring theme in the movie. PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU!! |
