Am I right to be worried
I was born at 24 weeks, and had spasticity at birth. I have always had mobility problems. I have had type 2 diabetes for about 18 years now. Since last year I have been getting pains, in my feet and legs. At first it was like pins and needles, sometimes sharp pains, my legs are painfull up to the back of my knees now. I'm scared.

It could be neuropathy from your diabetes. This would be dangerous and foolish to diagnose on the Internet - please see a Physician.

Judy (above) has noted a possible cause of your pains, diabetic neuropathy.
The various types of neuropathy than can occur are many and varied. Some more apparent than others, and may co-exist. You may wish to read a little further on this issue at the National Diabetes Information Clearing House (Diabetic Neuropathies).

As you will note, and as Judy as previously indicated, differential diagnosis is essential, and is well beyond the capability of internet resources.

You are right to be concerned about your symptoms, but there is no need for panic. Effective treatments are available. Just don't ignore the condition while it worsens.

Hi.. as the previous posts have said go and see your doctor. My son is also type two diabetic and sometime has pins and needles in his feet,he goes to the diabetic clinic on a regular basis.. about every six months to see the diabetic nurse, who checks his blood and urine,I imagine you do the same!

Please go see your doctor or if your nurse appointment is before the doctor appointment,be sure to tell her all your symptoms,do not leave it.

I notice that you have said that you have been suffering from these pains in your legs for a year... do you not have diabetic health checks?. if not please make some enquires along those lines.
