    Employment application
My husband was convicted of a felony DUI almost 15 years ago. It has recently been dropped down to a misdemeanor. Should he check yes to the felony question on an application?

I used to be in Human Resources for a company that was very lenient on those convicted of any crime. What was important to us was honesty about the past. When in doubt, you should either ask the employer what they prefer (explain the situation) or just check yes. Generally, they have a space for you to describe what happened, and there your husband can explain the circumstance. If he checks "no" because it is now a misdemeanor, but they find out about it later, that could be more serious than if they knew about it up front.

    Hello F:

What kind of procedure did you go through that resulted in a felony being dropped down to a misdemeanor?? I've never heard of such a thing. He should go back to court to apply for a pardon. Then he can absolutely say he was never convicted of ANYTHING.
