Difficulties with 2nd Internal Hard Drive
I connected an internal hard drive (I can get the specifications later if needed) and it worked with my Dell OptiPlex Gx620. I only recently started having problems and now the hard drive doesn't even show on my computer. The file path was E:\ and I had no difficulties until now. I'm not sure if the hard drive crashed, if the wiring is wrong, or if some technical error is the problem. I'm not to knowledgeable on computers, but I can follow along pretty well to directions and advice. If you need more information, I can elaborate.

If it worked before then stopped, I would suspect the hookup came loose inside. Older Sata cords did not have a locking mechanism like the newer ones do, so they had a tendency to vibrate loose. That would be the first thing I would check. Make sure you power down completely before you start (either switch off the power supply in the back or unplug from the wall). Afterword check in the bios to see if the drive is recognized when you restart, and also in Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management after your back into Windows and let us know what you find.

OK. So this keeps getting crazier and crazier, but I'm thinking that I'm gainging hold of the situation. The hard drive did have a loose connection, when I started it up. The internal disc showed up, but it was having difficulties because there was a file corruption. It came from this download I had done for a pop-up blocker, oh the irony... So I created an Administor account, restarted in safe mode, and than removed the file. When the computer was restarting it automatically did a scan and found the corrupted files and deleted them. I can't find them in the directory. But now I got a message saying that the drive is damaged, so I'm running check Disc to see if it will repair it. Any input to my situtation at hand is greatly apprecicated
