My daughter Kaili is 2, she has only slept the night a few times in her life. Any suggestions on how to get her sleeping through the night? I NEED SLEEP!! Lol

Can you give us a little more information please?
Does your little girl go to bed Ok? Bedtime routine? Falls asleep in her own cot/bed or is taken up after falling asleep?
What do you do when she wakes up during the night?
Does she have any medical problems or anything else going on in her daily life that might have an impact?

You will get better advice if we can see the whole picture.

Every night she has a bedtime snack, bath and story, goes to bed at 7 p.m. every night with out a fight in her own bed... she has no medical problems, and when she wakes in the night I check and see if anything is wrong (wet diaper etc.) then I go back to bed.

Does she cry when she wakes up? Does she usually have a wet diaper that needs changing? How long do you stay with her? Does she go right back to sleep? What if you let her cry for several nights but didn't respond?

Two is getting to be a bit old to be awake at night. She knows if she cries, you come running and there might be some entertainment with you talking to her, etc. She may have you trained.

She doe not have naps in the day time anymore because I thought that might have something to do with it... I don't talk to her when I go in and check on her, and she wakes up screaming sometimes to the point where it takes awhile to comfort her like she is afraid of something, and other times goes right back to bed

It would be very difficult to allow her to scream, so yes, it's good that you go to her. What about a toy that is a flashlight, such as a Glowbaby or whatever they call them now?

Yes she sleeps with a glow worm and I have a little princess night light for her in her room

Honestly in my opinion, you just don't worry about it. Kiddos will start sleeping through the night when they are ready. My daughter quit day time naps when she was about 2, and didn't sleeping all through the night until she was 5. which isn't typical, but I was told that still isn't something to worry about

May I ask, when you go into her,does she look awake,can you console her,or does she continue crying/screaming for,lets say 20 or 30 minutes,then falls alseep again?

Most of the tim she doesn't look awake, but doesn't only cries for long periods when I don't go in an tuck her back in

Sounds like night terrors. Totally normal for this age, and not much you can do about it hon.

It could be night terrors, they usually start at about 2 years of age, a trip to your doctor might confirm this.

If it is, usually the child will outgrow them, however,I did read that waking the child BEFORE they start crying will help break the sleep cycle.

Sitting her up, maybe bringing to the bathroom, something to make sure she is fully awake... its hardship,I know... but as far as I remember you only have to do this for a short period.

It may take a day or two so keep an eye on your post, finding credible sites can sometimes be difficult,as I find a lot can be quite scary with the information given.

I broke the 'rules' lol. When my daughter started night terrors I just got rid of her bed and brought her to my bed. But it is easier when its just me and her. She slept with me until 5-6 years, but she is autistic and was having the night terrrors clear through 5 years. Still has them sometimes at 7 years. But she is in her own bed now.
