My toddlers bruised bottom
I am a stay at home mom and the past few days my 20 month old hasn't been out of my sight except for when she is sleeping. I woke her up this morning and while getting her ready to get in the bath I noticed her whole butt was bruised. I don't mean just one of her butt cheeks or anything I literally mean her whole butt and even part of her lower back. Its not a super dark bruise but it's the light blak and blue colors. Its not one solid bruise its more like the tiny speckals. I have been racking my brain to think of how it could have happened and I am at a complete loss. She hasn't fallen off anything from such a distance to cause that big of a bruise. The only thing I could think of was when she went downstairs to do laundry with me and she likes to go down on her bottom bouncing from one step to the other and she leans her back on the stairs as well. Should I be worried? She is going to her dads this weekend and I have no explanation for this bruise which I know wouldn't look good to anyone. Its got me very stressed out. Any words would be great. Thank you.

I'm guessing the going-down-stairs-on-her-bottom thing is what caused the bruise-y speckles. Diapers would protect her somewhat, but she may land firmly enough to really be plopping hard down on each step.
How many steps are there? Is this a new thing she's doing?

I would get this checked. I do agree with WG that it's most likely from bumping down the stairs, but the fact that she bruised so easily is a concern.
Does she normally bruise easily? This would be something I'd definitely talk to my doctor about.

Hello v:
If your ex is going to think you abused him, you betcha I'd get him checked out. Even that might not be enough.

I would also get that checked out with your GP.
It doesn't sound like they are fresh bruises if they are not dark in colour, at least as far as I know bruising heals.
Are you sure the bruises happened the day she slipped/bounced down the stairs? What about the day prior, or a few days prior. Was she with any other adult? Could they have happened when she first got to her father's?
If what you are seeing is bruising that is healing, there is more to this story in my opinion.

it looks like the bruises are just starting to appear. Like they are getting darker now. The stpes aren't very padded and she does go down them pretty firmly. That's the only thing that could have caused this bruising on her that I could possiably think of. There is about 10 steps and she has only done this the past few days with me. She has been with only me for 2 weeks straight. Like I said the only time I'm not with her is when she is sleeping or playing but I can still see her. She has never bruised easily that I have noticed just the normal little bumps and what not from being a clumbsy 21 month old. She never watches where she is going. I am concerned enough that I will be taking her to the doctors. Its just too weird and too much brusing for me to leave alone. I know the x knows me better then to think that I would do anything to her but if I got her back like this from him I would think something was going on so naturally I'm going to guess those will also be his thought if I have no explanation. Thank you all for your insight. I have a little piece of mind now.
