can you help my pet dog missy is 12mths old and this morning she refused to eat her meal, I took her outside and she started to eat long grass, her tummy gurgles and she has flatulence what is wrong with her she is a maltese x shih tzu.

She might have worms you will need to get her checked out

It could be anything. Youir Vet will need to look at her.

(My dogs both eat grass all the time.)

She has been checked for worms and all clear she ate all her meals yesterday this started this morning I am worried we only got her 2 and 1/2 weeks ago

Usually dogs eat grass when they have an upset tummy. But, anytime a dog refuses to eat a trip to the vet is in order.

Have you changed foods recently, or is she eating the same food she was before you got her?

I think you can see we all think you need to take her to the vet. It could be something she ate or even a toxin but a trip to the vet should be on the top of your list for Tuesday morning.

Glad to hear she's okay.

Dogs are a lot like people. They get tummy aches too. One sure sign is if they're eating grass. Grass is a natural remedy for an upset stomach in dogs. They even know what type of grass to eat for different tummy ailments. :)

But, if your dog is ever exhibiting signs of pain, or lethargy, or doesn't eat for more then a day, along with the tummy issues, then it's always best to go to the vet, even if it turns out to be nothing, better safe then sorry. Especially since they can't tell us what's wrong.

I wouldn't be so quick to head off to the vet if she only missed one meal. My dog skips meals all the time. She may have gotten into something that upset her belly, and like mentioned she ate the grass as a way of providing relief to her self. If she refuses food for over 24 hours, or exhibits any other signs of discomfort like retching or gagging, loose bowel movements, vomiting or excessive drooling, then I would head off to the vet.
