Pen pals probably doesn't mean the same as it did many years ago. We used to actually write letters to people we had met in campsites, visiting, travelling to wherever they happened to be living all over the world.
I am sure you can Google PENPAL but don't think it would necessarily to be the safest thing to do.

I agree with tickle,
It is not a good idea to give out your email on public forums or on other sites where anyone can get access to.
We never know who will contact us.Better safe than sorry.
A good idea would be to write to relatives or old friends who have moved or even friends you have made during your trips (holiday, school trips etc).

I agree with both of the above answers and add that you should never give out your HOME address if you are talking about the old fashioned kind of pen pal. There are weirdos out there. LOL

Pen pals online - you run the same risk as online dating - people who pose as someone else, lie, try to commit a fraud, bully, intimidate, even threaten, and manipulate. Sounds like so much fun, doesn't it? If you do something like an online pen pal, remember only you are responsible for your own safety. Never tell anyone something you would not tell a rea life person. Check people out carefully. If you do meet someone, guard your personal information such as full name, address, and phone number, or even birthdate.

I was interested in penpalling but not anymore, you get people that would set up a profile that is contrary to whom they really are. Plus now there are more spammers on penpal site then anyone else. But I will be glad to become your friend, you can drop me an email anytime through this site =)
